From the Mangroves to the Heart of Bangkok
Sri Trat was founded in 2017 by husband-and-wife team Wongwich "Ack" Sripinyo and Nontawan "Taam" Chitwattanagorn. After living abroad, the couple felt that Thai food — particularly the diverse, complex regional cuisines like that of Trat — was often misrepresented or lost in "Thai fusion" adaptations.
They created Sri Trat with a singular mission: to introduce Bangkok diners to the authentic, traditional flavors of their home region on Thailand's eastern seaboard, where land meets sea.
The restaurant is deeply personal. It honors the recipes of Ack's mother — a beauty queen in Trat — whose portrait, depicting her wearing her crown, graces the restaurant's iconic brick wall. Every dish is prepared exactly as it would be in their hometown, using fresh local ingredients and no MSG.
